Special invitation

A SPECIAL INVITATION TO OUR FOSTER CARE COMMUNITY💙

As we launch The Resilience Project during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, there is one community especially close to my heart: children and young people touched by foster care and the families and professionals who walk alongside them.

As a therapist and someone who has had opportunities to work with young people in foster care, I understand that their stories can include experiences of rejection, separation, disappointment, transition, questions about belonging, and circumstances they did not choose.

That does not have to be the end of their story. Much of The Transformative Power of Rejection was created with young people like them in mind.

So, foster parents, kinship caregivers, foster care professionals, advocates and agencies—I want to personally invite you to bring your young people and join us at the Resilience Forum. 💜🩵

This is not a foster care event, and no young person will be singled out or expected to share their personal experiences. It is a community gathering where they can simply come, listen, participate, and hear stories of resilience from people with many different backgrounds and life experiences.

Sometimes a young person needs to look around the room and realize:
“I'm not the only one who has been through something.”
“I'm not the only one who has experienced rejection.”
“I'm not the only one who has had to start again.”
“And what happened to me does not determine who I can become.”

Our wellness materials were also created to give youth and young adults practical opportunities to reflect, process emotions, strengthen coping skills, explore identity and self-worth, and build resilience—with activities that caring adults can continue working through with them.
